Aspirations

Thought I'd list for posterity now the things that I hope I can achieve between now and mid July through this ride.  Obviously fitness, after being laughed at by various physiotherapists, osteopaths, doctors and the like at the ridiculous inflexibility and tight hamstrings I've developed over the years, I have a challenge to get back to fighting fitness and steer clear of injury whilst training and cycling across Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.

My writing and analysis skills need brushing up (hence this quiet little blog).  Approaching the research side of the project had benefits and problems from the sheer amount of existing research  guidance and advocacy that's already out there.  Add to this understanding the different governance and planning structures for America, the individual States and the towns and cities along the way.  It's very easy to get lost in endless blogs and policy documents, but by starting to review these now should help provide an overview to help with the 'on the hoof' analysis when we're in the saddle.  It is also important to keep the volume of stuff out there in mind to ensure we are focusing on our groups USP, of experiencing all these places first hand, from the saddle, and from the point of view of experienced architects, planners and built environment professionals.

Obviously the opportunity for more anecdotes and pictures of the open road, new friends and all the good things that come from travel, especially travel on two wheels.

But my first aim has to be to keep this updated a little more often, summarising fitness and research progress so I can look back at the achievements in six months time.
